FIRST AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPER FOR IPADS LAUNCHED
BRISBANE, QLD (27 May 2010) - The Australia Times today became the first Australian newspaper to officially launch a digital newspaper edition that can be viewed on Apple iPads and other hand-held ebook reading devices.
The release of the new digital edition of the Australia Times comes a day before Apple iPads go on sale in Australia on Friday.
Subscribers to the Australia Times Reader service are automatically eligible to receive free downloads to the digital editions.
The launch means that readers now have a choice of viewing the Australia Times in 4 different electronic formats: the new downloads for iPads and other devices, online via the Australia Times website, on mobile devices via the newspaper's mobile site at australia-times.mobi, and through its Australia Times Reader software.
People wishing to register for the Australia Times Reader service, and obtain free digital editions can currently subscribe for free at www.australia-times.com.au/digitaledition/ .
The digital editions of the Australia Times are distributed in the EPUB format, which is compatible with a large number of ebook reading devices and software applications.
